Here’s A Simple Push-Up Exercise To Do After Pregnancy

Here’s a variation of push-up exercise for post pregnancy that is safe to do and also one exercise you can enjoy with your baby.

TRANSCRIPT:

Hi I’m Tamara from Inner Strength Pilates and Barre, thanks for joining me.

I would love to show you just a very simple, it’s a simple push-up, nothing special about the actual exercise, but I’m here to inspire you to do some exercise with your little one, because I know that it’s very very hard to try and find the time but also the energy when you’re up all night feeding your little one.

Okay so little Maple here is 3 weeks old, just check with your midwife and your obstetrician to see whether you are ready to do some exercise, okay.

But the focus here is that you want to engage your core correctly each breathe out, so that you’re not compromising anything in regards to your abdominal separation, or any aches and pains or injuries that you may have, okay.

So push-up stand on the knees, coming over on to your baby, so you can spend some beautiful time with them, that’s it.

Try to tuck your pelvic under, shoulder blades down the back and keeping nice and strong through your core.
So breathe in to go down, give them a little kiss, exhale to push-up, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breath out.

If you’re not feeling too strong just do little ones, you don’t have to give him a kiss of course, pushing down, pushing up, okay.

If you want to go a little bit wider you might feel a little bit more stable, inhale to go down, breathe in, breathe in, so see how many you can do, and as you get stronger then you can increase the reps, okay.

So don’t get stress about it, don’t push yourself too hard, do as many push-ups as you can, when you get fatigued just do little smaller push-ups so it doesn’t have to go all the way down to your little one.

And just remember that 10 or 15 minute workout each day is better than none at all, okay.

So when you’ve got your little one awake, you’ve given them a feed, lay them on the mat and spend a little bit of time doing your exercise with them.

I hope that you enjoy that, and thanks for watching.
