TRANSCRIPT:

I’m Tamara from Inner Strength Pilates and Barre, and thanks for joining me, I’m going to show you a post natal exercise which is wonderful for you to do to really get your core working correctly.

So all you need is a long foam bolster, full round, and that’s what we are going to lay down on, okay.

So let’s get started, now it is very important that you do know how to engage your core correctly, which is quite intricate to do, it’s not as simple as just tensing the muscles around your torso, okay.

So let me explain that first, on the breathe out to engage your deep abdominal muscle you want to shrink your torso, so you want to pull your belly button back to the spine and the sides of the waist in.

Now if you can hear a baby crying, that is my 3 weeks old baby in the background, okay.

So let’s lay down on the bolster, relaxing through the arms, take a breathe in to prepare, exhale engage your core you’re going to flow opposite arm and the leg up, inhale to hold.

On the breathe out now this becomes the tricky bit, you’re going to lift up the next arm, if your core is engage you’ll be nice and balanced, inhale prepare, exhale everything come float back down together.

Take a breathe in and swapping sides, exhale tummy pelvic floor, inhale to hold, exhale for the next arm to come up, inhale to hold, and exhale float them both back down.

I’ll show you one more time, breathe in, exhale tummy pelvic floor, inhale to hold, exhale floating, got to engage your core to be nice and stable, and inhale back down, and last time breathe in, exhale tummy and pelvic floor then the movement, inhale hold, exhale.

Now if you are trying this exercise and you completely wobbling and you fall off your bolster, that’s because your core isn’t activating properly.

So make sure you go on seek professional advice and help on how to get that core working properly.

Okay, I better attend to that little screaming baby over there, my little one’s 3 weeks old and my focus right now is just doing nice gentle core activation exercises to bring my abdominal separation back and so that I feel nice and strong through my core again.
