Improve Your Upper Body Strength During Pregnancy
Here’s a great exercise to help improve your upper body strength that is safe to do during or even post pregnancy.

Hi I’m Maria from Inner Strength Pilates and Barre, showing you another great exercise to take you through all trimesters of pregnancy.
And really nice one to build some shoulder strength and upper back strength to help keep our good posture all throughout the day, helps to eliminate any back aches, headaches, also things like that when we’re reaching down looking after our baby, our posture’s changing especially when we’re feeding.
So what we do with this hanging on to some weights of your choice, I’ve got a 2 kilo dumbbell for me today, we stand with feet hip width apart, and we bend our knees to have tail out and draw our pelvic floor out, our grip is so that our palms are facing forwards.
Now it’s an exhale lower the ribs, pull the belly in, pelvic floor lifts, arms rise up to your side, inhale release, exhale draw the shoulder blades down, inhale release.
So it’s a little squeeze of the shoulder blades every time you lift, inhale lower, exhale squeeze the shoulder blades, inhale release, 4 more, for 4, and 3, keep your back long, back of the neck is nice and long too, 2 more, squeeze the shoulder all the way up with the arms, and last one, good.
We’re staying here, turning the hands or palms face the knees, and we’re coming for a row, we do 8 of each, it’s an exhale little squeeze through the shoulder blades, draw the weights up, 4 more, for 4, and 3, inhale down, breathe out, 2 more, and 1.
Good, and that’s your set, repeat twice, so 2 sets of each for each exercise, thanks for joining me.
