The Best Upper Body Stretch To Do After Pregnancy

After pregnancy mom’s always tend to forget to maintain their posture since they always have to lean forward in picking up their baby, now we will do an upper body stretch that will help out in opening your chest.

TRANSCRIPT:

I’m Tamara from Inner Strength Pilates and Barre, and this is little Maple who is 3 weeks old now, and I want to show you a one full upper body stretch.

Because if you’re a mom you know that it’s all about hunching forward, carrying and lifting them, lots of leaning forward getting tight through the front of your chest which creates that rounded posture which none of us want and it’s not good for your body, and it doesn’t look good, okay.

So stretching out your upper body over a one full foam bolster, exactly what we all need to do, okay.

So if you lay your little one on the ground, hopefully Maple’s going to be okay here, we’ll do it very quickly, okay.

And then you’re going to lay down on your back, you’ll going to rest your shoulder blades on the bolster, hands behind your head, now you always want to your lower back down to the ground, okay, not arching through the lower back.

Take a breathe in to go back to the head and neck, that feel so good, and exhale to come up, so it’s just a movement from your ribcage above, breathe in to go back, and breathe out to come up.

So you can do a couple with your bolster up nice and high, but then take the bolster a little bit lower to do exactly the same.

Breathing in to go back, and breathe out to come up, so you should only feel the stretch through the top part of your spine, breathe in to go back, and breathe out to come up.

And then again you can take the bolster a little bit lower, you don’t want to go too low, so just at the bottom there, bottom of the shoulder blades, breathe in, and only moving from you ribcage above.

So it’s a wonderful stretch for the upper back, it’s going to help open you up through the chest, and which will also help to decrease any neck pain or any headaches that you may be getting.
