Adelaide Pilates Studio Client Testimonial
Our Adelaide Pilates Studio Client has said…
“What I like about Inner Strength is that it’s a smaller studio, that we have a maximum of five people in a class and that you get individualised attention during your session.
I also like the fact that there’s a variety of times available so you can always find, you know, even though I have a regular session that I like to go to, if something comes up I know I can find another session time that’s going to suit and it’s convenient for being close to my work and my home so I find it a really beneficial place to be coming.
As a remedial massage therapist I feel that it’s really important that people engage in self-care as part of their healthcare routine and Pilates I have found has been really beneficial in doing that not just for my clients but for myself as well.
I discovered Pilates almost two years ago now and I’ve found that it’s made me much more body-aware and a lot stronger as a massage therapist and I encourage my clients who particularly have issues regarding either stretch or strengthening issues or issues with flexibility to partake in organised Pilates classes such as the ones that are offered here at Inner Strength because it’s a small class environment and there’s individualised care with each person rather than the larger studios where a person doesn’t get to have their needs properly taken care of.
Around about 10 years ago I was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and the subsequent result of that is that post-treatment, you become a lot weaker in the body, not just things like immune system but actually muscle strength, respiratory issues as well.
So what I’ve found with Pilates is that it’s helped me in all of those areas so I feel that I have developed a lot more muscle strength. Definitely my health and respiratory fitness functions have all improved since doing Pilates.
I’ve found that my body shape has changed although I haven’t necessarily lost weight, which was not my intention when I took on Pilates because I didn’t really need to lose weight.
What I needed to do was tone muscle and I have found that my body shape has changed and if anyone wants to do it purely for that, you will notice that your body shape does change and you look a lot better shape than you would do.
And I really encourage Pilates particularly for clients who are in sedentary jobs, you know who sat in front of the computer all day, the posture that you adopt throughout the day, and we’re spending a lot more time, 10, 12 hours a day in front of the computer.
And the postural issues that develop with that are really chronic in our society at the moment and Pilates can really assist in correcting some of those postural things.
And also, it just makes people more body-aware and I think that’s something that’s lacking in society at the moment. We do tend to be very… don’t understand what’s going inside our body and so becoming more body-aware with Pilates is excellent as well.
If anyone was considering coming and trying Pilates I would just encourage them to come and give it a go. It’s important to realise that it’s not just a one-off thing as with most health type exercises it’s not a one-off thing, it is a progression thing but I always encourage people to give it a go and try and I would always encourage them to come to a smaller studio like Inner Strength because you’re going to get that individualised attention.
After a session of Pilates I feel stronger, I feel a lot more mentally clearer and I feel energised. I feel ready to take on the day ahead. And yeah, it just makes me feel so much better.”
